1.5 was always kind of arbitrary. Seemed to be based more on what was believed to be potentially possible more than what was actually needed.

Things are going to change. Both slowly and quickly. Lot of people aren't going to make it. A bottleneck is unavoidable now, IMHO.

If you want to make it, if you want your family to make it start learning necessary and valuable skills. Learn how to make something you can use as currency that people will want/need. Get your village ready. Secure sources of food and water. Get in shape and get strong. Work on adaptability. Stop expecting things to be so easy. They won't be.
