Agree on both points. I'm always irritated when non-feminists and non-humanists (patriarchal apologists, in other words) make the claim that feminists want a Matriarchy to subvert Patriarchy in order to oppress men. It's a ludicrous idea born of fear, ignorance, and out-of-whack big feels about their own egos.
We're no better. The vast majority of feminists know that deep in our bones. We're just as subject to the foils of what boils down to supremacist thinking as men are.
The idea is to end supremacist thinking and challenge the beliefs and narratives that create it. Level the playing field. Stop the 'othering'. Recogize that there is no right way or better way to human. Appreciate the complexity.
And yes. If we're not going g to worry about little girls being raised by misogynistic men, then no fuss should he made about little boys being raised by misandrists. Or little boys being raised by misogynistic or racists fathers. Or little girls being raised by misandrist or racist mothers.
Time and time again with the "gotcha, you feminists" brigade, the first thing that becomes most noticeable is that it's only ever a problem when it lands negatively on them. They refuse to see it already happening in a flipped dynamic. Time and time again.
Thanks for the recommendation of Creamerie. Sounds interesting. I'll have to look for that. Sounds a bit like The Power.
