Again, there is reason to fear the fallout of the gender essentialist argument. It IS the basis of women's subjugation under the patriarchy.
As for Transwomen are women and Transmen are men. Meh. The statement is another poor liberal slogan without bearing and without subjectivity.
Being a man or a woman isn't just about gender. If it were, we could accept the statement and move on. Being a man or woman is partially about gender but it's also about your biological sex.
If you're born with an XY set of chromosomes, does surgery to remove your male bits and add false female ones and placing yourself on hormones suddenly change your chromosomes to XX? Nope. You have to take those hormones the rest of your life, otherwise your still very male brain will start producing male hormones as directed by your very male DNA on a cellular level.
Thrse hormones are very hard on the body. I believe people should.beballowes to do what they want to do with their own body but there needs to be some clear education about the effects of these drugs so people are making an informed decision. There's also something hypocritical about denying body modification for gender reassignment but allowing it, promoting it, and celebrating it for hyper sexualized features (boob jobs, chiseled jaws).
I personally don't have a problem with the bathroom scenarios, but I've always been physically able to thwart/respond to sexual assault attempts. There have been 3. So I don't have that trauma of having my personhood dominated in that way, although the assaults were traumatic enough in and of themselves. The point is, I don't have that residual fear of men walking through the world like assault survivors do. I obviously understand why they do though. I cannot tell either side they are 100% right or 100% wrong on this. Seems like there should be some kind of compromise, but I can't tell you what it is and both sides have to willing to talk it out on good faith and LISTEN. There's too much entrenchment. Same thing with sports. Why can't we have a separate category? You compete with whoever you want to compete with but as a Transperson you get a handicapp so it's fair? Something like that.
There's a Transwoman on this platform who ststes that she specificslly transitioned so she'd have an easier time getting sex. She was an Incel type before transitioning. On the one hand, I love this because it very effectively nixes the gender essentialist argument. You don't have a "female brain" if conversion is an incel strategy to get laid. This person routinely speaks to how much easier it is to get sex as a woman. I do not know how far the body modifications have gone. It's none of my business. But I do know that she's dating lesbians.
There's something very manipulative and sexually coercive in the way she speaks about some of this. How up front is she being with these women? Would it matter to them? Is she maneuvering herself into sexual relationships with lesbian women under the Trans banner of gender essentialism which some women are accepting without thinking it through. In other words, is she convincing these women she has a female brain but was born in the wrong body when her entire reason for conversion was to get laid? You have to admit that's some straight up male entitlement to female bodies and sex thinking there. And she WAS part of the misogynistic manosphere by her own admission. That means she's sexually abusing these women under the safety of Trans Rights.
Is she evena real person or is this a persona someone created to cause some internet drama?
I don't know. But it proves the rightness of some "TERF" arguments. It's not the individual Transwomen that's the problem.
It's how do we safely include and grant basic human rights protections with Transpersons without umdermining our own against men who will exploit them? Because those men are always there and they will always exploit whatever weakness there is because that's what some men do. That's what objectification and public "ownership" of female bodies does to the minds of half of men. It makes you inherently untrustworthy. It makes you rattlesnakes. It will be that way until objectification and consumption of women ends. Until masculinity is redefined I to something more humane, fulfilling, and meaningful than what it is now.
To be clear, femininity has its own problems and needs redefining too. Both area corruption of the human spirit. My opinion.
