I also said that everyone exhibits traits of Narcissism by virtue of being self aware.

Ergo, if everyone has narcissistic traits to some degree, it cannot be the cause of racism. Because it applies to everyone, even minorities.

Thinking highly of yourself or being rude does not make a sociopath or a psychopath any more than fidgeting means you have ADHD , or that not liking to make eye contact means you have autism. You have to meet a higher threshold standard of behaviors to earn a clinical diagnosis.

To have Narcissistic Personality Disorder you must exhibit almost all the traits on that list regularly in all situations without restraint and to such a degree that it negatively impact a your life and prevents you from forming normal relationships. As such, it is rare.

It’s become a buzzword and a catch-all that you inappropriately applied to the discussion about broader issues. The prevalence of NPD in the US is something like 0.5%. Something with such a low incidence cannot possibly be the one single root cause of racism. It’s unhelpful and harmfully reductive.

Studying something does not make you an expert or safeguard you from honest critique. A real expert welcomes critique to hone their skills. Applying learned knowledge outside the dictates of common sense does not make you intelligent.
