Actually, that's just being patronizing and condescending.

Mansplaining would be when a renowned female mechanic drives into a shop and describes in exact and accurate detail the problem, names the part that needs to be replaced model number and all and asks if they have any in stock and the male apprentice says, "when cars make strange noises, it usually means something's wrong. It could be a lot of different things," and then launches into a long, overly involved description of what a grinding noise vs a squealing noise sounds like and might mean.

And hey, men do do this. We've all been there. It's a bizarre and Twilight Zonish type of experience.
