Actually, that’s exactly what it means. For most of us, sexual opportunity is a fucking daily occurrence. The fact that the majority of women are out and out hit on, shown subtle displays of sexual interest, or offered some form of transactional sex so often means that it’s available whether we want it or not. Whether we’re married and wearing that ring that’s supposed to broadcast unavailability. Or even whether we’re physically in a capacity to engage at that point or not. (I got hit on while I was in labor for fuck’s sake. And yes, he knew I was in labor. I’ve met two other women with that same experience who felt comfortable enough to talk about it with me.)
Not wanting what’s offered is not the same as it not being available.
Is that same dynamic true for incels? Yes. Absolutely. They have sex available to them.
The difference is the female experience vs the male experience. From a very young age, usually prepubescence or early puberty, young girls are indoctrinated with the notion of being desirable and sexual. The lookout for creepy old men starts around 11 or 12. Far younger than young boys become aware of being sexually desirable.
And certainly not in the same fashion. Women do not keep the same sorts of fetish sexual bucket lists like men do, like to pop a cherry or to bang a laboring woman. There are also numerous blood fetishes around menstruation.
The result is that women know from very young ages that sex is available to them. Men are socialized to think that they must forever chase after it, that it’s meanly being denied to them, that they have to act in a predatory fashion in order to get it.
You have to appreciate the irony there. They think that predation and transactional behavior will guarantee sexual success but it’s the two things that make it so so much harder to find a mate or even a successful encounter. That thinking, too, is ubiquitous.
So no, Femcel is not a real thing. It’s not a movement. It’s not an ideology. There are no women hanging out in their basements in internet rabbit holes of false aggrievement. There are no proud card carrying members of the Femcel club planning mass murders for revenge. It’s just a made up word by men to obfuscate a real social problem. As usual.
Go ahead and feel bad for all the Dicks, Johns, and Barneys. Have to wonder if you feel the same sympathy for all the Karens, Beckys, Sharons, and Stacys. Given how quickly you threw out, erroneously I might add, the Karen slur at me I’m gonna go with a big fat NO.
Of course not. That would mean you actually have an interest in equity and fair play rather than dominance.
But you go ahead and try to put me in my place.
Which brings us back to.... what’s good for the goose....
