Actually I was saying that there's little point in showing compassion to contemptible people. It just emboldens them to be more contemptuous.

I had assumed your comment about compassion and Trump to mean that compassion should be shown to him and his supporters because of the way one sentence followed another. But, you're right. You didn't actually say that.

I think after reading your response that were actually I'm the same page. I'm all for compassion and open, honest intent. But come at me like Trump's contemptuous behavior and expect to get "hockey checked" hard.
