A lot of your thinking contributes to the growing epidemic of obesity.
We don't shame and punish people for getting Covid in the way we shame and punish people for being obese.
There is a world of difference between shame and abuse for not meeting an arbitrary and often fashionable (yes, body types are a fashion) ideal and promoting healthy eating and healthy living.
We promote quitting smoking and responsible drinking. We don't tell smokers and drinkers that they are wastes of space and air. That one we can't unsee them and we're forever grossed out. That they're not worthy of love an respect. We don't deny them jobs because they're not a good fit for our company culture, etc. We don't have all their food and the water cooler with nicotine and vodka to keep them addicted. We recognize that changing behavioral patterns is hard—we give them time and support to do so. We don't hurl abuse at them to undermine their chance of success. We get them to a good, healthy, mental place so they'll be strong enough to break their addiction. We make our house alcohol free. We do something else with our loved ones that keeps them away from ambient smoke and drink.
